Confidential SaaS
A side build for one client that turned out to have a market. Concept, product and go-to-market, end to end.
What was actually wrong
This one started as a favour. A client had a recurring, valuable job that was being done by hand, badly, because no tool existed that fit the way they actually worked. I built something narrow to solve it.
It became obvious fairly quickly that the problem was not specific to them. The interesting part was not the software — it was that the same shape of problem sat inside a lot of similar businesses, all of them solving it manually.
The work
Validated before building anything serious
Proved the problem generalised beyond the original client before committing real engineering time to it.
Built the product
Designed and built the system itself, rather than specifying it and handing it to somebody else.
Automated the unglamorous half
The onboarding and the operational automation around the product — the part that decides whether a small SaaS is a business or a second job.
Priced and positioned it
Worked out what it is worth to the businesses that need it, and how to say so.
Took it to market
Ran the acquisition myself, into a defined set of businesses rather than a broad audience.
What came out of it
ROI reached within one month
6-figure MRR within 3 months
Deployed across 7 businesses
Built, automated, priced and marketed by yours truly!
Client and product deliberately unnamed under confidentiality agreements. Happy to talk through the specifics privately under NDA.
