Third Loft Marketing

I came in as a freelance helper. Fifteen months later I was partnered with the founder as Co-Lead, running the agency’s positioning, search and client growth.

The brief

What was actually wrong

Third Loft was a capable agency with a diluted story. It sold general web and marketing work across two unrelated markets, which meant competing everywhere and owning nowhere. The site was 56 pages deep but thin where it mattered.

The opportunity was not more services. It was picking one market and becoming the obvious answer in it.

What I did

The work

01

Picked a market and committed

Repositioned the agency from a general two-market shop into a pure Grand Junction, Colorado local play, built on three pillars: website design, SEO, and general marketing. One market, three things, no hedging.

02

Mapped the competitive field

Ran a full content-gap analysis against the local field and found the model to beat — a rival built on a services × locations × industries architecture. That became the structural target.

03

Found where the rankings were soft

The surrounding-town searches were being won by thin, out-of-town programmatic pages. Genuine local pages for those towns were the single biggest opening on the board.

04

Turned an archive into an asset

The site already held 46 local-business interviews sitting inert. Linked into the industries and locations content, that archive becomes first-hand local credibility no competitor can copy.

05

Took the agency upmarket

Alongside the local play, ran enterprise pitch work — including a full site architecture and search proposal for the North American arm of an international ropeway group.
